LIFT is dedicated to ensuring positive social, environmental, and economic impacts of funded projects.
COMMUNITY MECHANISM
The community mechanism is a formal process for communities to raise and resolve grievances or disputes. The mechanism can cover actual or potential environmental, economic, or social harm to persons or communities from LIFT-funded projects or in project areas.
Eligible issues or incidents meet the following criteria:

include a current or proposed LIFT-funded project, or are in a project area,
-
explain the adverse socio-economic, protection, or environmental impact of the LIFT-funded project on the reporter or the community, and
-
outline the steps taken to resolve the issue so far – if relevant.

contact details such as phone number, email or other contact details, and, if acting on behalf of a person or community, indicate the organization and the community,

details of the project, including its name, location, and description,

an explanation of how the project has or is likely to affect the people or the environment, and
-
details of actions already taken to resolve – if applicable.

PROCESS
(1) CONTACT: Receipt of the correspondence is acknowledged, and a case reference number is provided.
(2) CHECK: The correspondence is assessed against the eligibility criteria.
(3) INVESTIGATE: If eligible, an investigation is conducted, gathering information from all relevant parties.
(4) RESOLVE: A proposed resolution is developed and implemented. Once the resolution has been fully implemented, the case is closed.
