LIFT has developed gender sensitivity guidelines to promote integration of gender aspects into projects from the design stage. LIFT’s Gender Action Plan consists of gender-related and gender-specific actions for each of LIFT’s programmes. Each activity in the action plan is accompanied by an indicator and an expected timeframe for completion of the activity with monitoring sheets that are developed and used by the programme’s gender focal points to document progress on gender mainstreaming on a bi-annual basis.
Gender-targeted approaches are increasingly used by LIFT’s implementing partners to enhance women’s participation in project activities. Following LIFT’s training on the LIFT Gender Action Plan in 2018, LIFT’s implementing partners are also increasingly collecting gender-sensitive data, adapting the delivery of interventions to meet gender needs and ensuring gender-balanced project field teams.
