Sida is a Government agency working on behalf of the Swedish parliament and Government, with the mission to reduce poverty in the world. Through their work and cooperation with others, they contribute to implementing Sweden’s Policy for Global Development (PGU).
Sweden was part of the initial donors when LIFT was established. The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA)’s strategy for Myanmar is a close collaboration between the long-term development cooperation and humanitarian aid, which is assessed annually. The support is focused on human rights, freedom of speech and accountability, the population’s participation in peace processes, and improved health, particularly for women and children. The target groups are mainly minorities, women, young people, and the most vulnerable citizens living in conflict areas and the most impoverished regions.
