This report by Paul Minoletti, an independent researcher, funded by The Asia Foundation, UK Aid and Australia Aid analyses how participation in state and non-state governance bodies in Myanmar remains heavily male dominated, from the national level through to local levels.

Some of the report's main recommendations are how increasing the gender equality of participation is likely to make policymaking, budgeting, and public service delivery more gender responsive. Improving the gender responsiveness of these will help to reduce existing social, economic, and political gender inequalities in Myanmar, thereby increasing citizens’ welfare and promoting economic growth.
