For three weeks, five University of Cambridge MBA candidates will act as consultants to LIFT through the Global Consulting Project (GCP) by preparing a framework for value for money (VfM) reporting. This will help maximise the impact of every dollar spent to improve the lives and prospects of poor and vulnerable people in rural Myanmar at both the project and overall programme level. Under the guidance of LIFT Fund Director, Andrew Kirkwood, the team will refine research methods, measure how practical a VfM framework is in the field, and conduct small workshops to demonstrate the framework’s application. Not only will an improved framework and better reporting methods maximise impact, but also increase the transparency of data.

The team is excited to be in Yangon during the city’s time of major growth and transition. This week, they will visit three LIFT projects in the Delta, allowing them to assess the situation on the ground. These projects include (1) Welthungerhilfe’s (WHH) Value Chain Development for Inclusion Economic Growth in Central Bogale/Mawlamyinegyun Townships, (2) Radanar Ayar’s Socio-Economic and Environmental Development in Bogale SEED), and (3) Proximity Designs’ Livelihood Support for Vulnerable Communities in Bogale, Mawlamyinegyun and Labutta.

Next, LIFT will agree on the approach to measure VfM at different levels of operation. This will be articulated to partners and stakeholders in the coming months.
