The LIFT funded Leveraging Essential Nutrition Actions to Reduce Malnutrition (LEARN)em> project’s team conducted a nutrition workshop, first of its kind, for LIFT’s partners in Yangon on 26-27 September.

During the first day of the workshop, basic nutrition topics were discussed, including macro and micronutrients, maternal nutrition and ‘Infant and Young Child Feeding’ (for children 0 to 2 years). The second day of workshop focused on the connection between nutrition and food security.  The participants discussed how food security and livelihoods projects could be made more nutrition-sensitive.

More than 30 participants from 20 of LIFT’s partners attended the training.  Majority of participants reported that they found the training topics to be relevant.  However, they also requested additional training on different nutrients and nutritional needs of infants and young children.  LEARN will utilize this feedback while developing future training modules for LIFT partners.

LEARN plans to conduct a three day workshop for any interested LIFT partners from 20-22 November in Yangon.
