This week, the Leveraging Essential Nutrition Actions to Reduce Malnutrition (LEARN) project held two half-day workshops titled "Nutrition-sensitive programme design", to help LIFT partners incorporate nutrition in their proposals for the LIFT's upcoming programmes.

The LEARN Project is a consortium of Save the Children, Action Contre La Faim, and Helen Keller International, which exists to build the capacity of LIFT implementing partners (IPs) to carry out nutrition-sensitive programmes. Since the start of the project, the project has provided technical support or training to over 30 local and international NGOs and has trained over 450 IP staff in nutrition.

The workshops, conducted by Elizabeth Whelan of Save the Children and Diane Lindsey of Helen Keller International, explained the why and how of nutrition-sensitive programmes, particularly within the context of LIFT's new strategy. With 27% of children in the Delta chronically malnourished, maximizing nutrition impacts of programmes is essential and can make long-lasting impact in vulnerable communities.
