Since 2009, LIFT has been working to realise results-based, sustainable development programmes across Myanmar. LIFT, with its implementing partners, has generated a wealth of information through these experiences.
In 2017, LIFT is launching a series of learning papers known as the Legacy Series. Each legacy paper will focus on a different aspect of LIFT programming, describing challenges, how they were overcome and what was learnt.
By sharing lessons learnt, LIFT looks to provide transparency in its work and inform future development programmes.
Launching today, Legacy Paper No.1: Learnings from Kyaukpyu and Tat Lan II is the first instalment in the Legacy Series. It describes key findings from a project implemented by two partners in the Tat Lan II programme in a conflict-affected area in Rakhine State.
LIFT’s Tat Lan implementing partners, Oxfam and Scholar Institute, worked with local civil society groups, community members, local government departments and members of parliament. Building trust among stakeholders was essential. Key lessons are that conflict sensitive programming is important for building trust, as is transparent and open communication between stakeholders.
The Legacy Series is designed to be a valuable resource to partners, stakeholders and future programme developers.
